Covid Policy

Overview

Chalema Tanzania Safaris is pleased to announce that most countries have relaxed their travel restrictions as vaccines and tests have become more widely available to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the international situation surrounding this unprecedented pandemic is subject to change. Travelers are encouraged to regularly consult government resources of their countries of origin and destination, in order to ensure that they remain in compliance with all testing and vaccination requirements associated with international travel.

Our Policy

During the ongoing pandemic, Chalema Tanzania Safaris continues to operate under a flexible COVID-19 booking policy. If you or one of the travelers in your group contracts COVID-19 and are unable to travel as scheduled, or if international travel restrictions which affect your itinerary are reinstated, please contact us as soon as possible. We would be pleased to allow the postponement of your scheduled travel at no additional charge, where possible. Please remember that purchasing your own travel insurance policy is also required when traveling with Chalema Tanzania Safaris. A comprehensive policy may permit you to recoup any lost expenses in the event that trip postponement is not possible.

Entry to Tanzania During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Entry requirements for international visitors to Tanzania are determined by the Tanzania Ministry of Health and Zanzibar Ministry of Health. These requirements are subject to change as the situation surrounding the COVID-19 virus evolves. At present, the following requirements apply to travelers arriving in Tanzania from international locations. These requirements are referenced here only as a convenience; travelers are responsible for ensuring that they remain in compliance with government policy at all times.

Incoming travelers who have received a full series of vaccinations for COVID-19 are not required to take a test or quarantine upon arrival in Tanzania. Vaccinated travelers must present a valid vaccination certificate at the time of arrival. Please note that only vaccines recognized by the United Republic of Tanzania and the World Health Organization will be accepted for this purpose.

Incoming travelers who have not received a full series of vaccinations for COVID-19 will be required to present a negative test result certificate and QR code. Both Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and Nucleic Acid Amplification Tests (NAAT) will be accepted for this purpose. However, such test results must have been obtained within 72 hours of departure.

Incoming travelers who have not received a full series of vaccinations for COVID-19 and have no negative test result will be tested upon arrival. This test will be a Rapid Antigen Test and will come at the cost of the traveler (approximately $10.00 USD). Positive results will be confirmed with a PCR test, which also comes at the cost of the traveler (approximately $50.00 USD). Unvaccinated travelers arriving in Zanzibar (as opposed to mainland Tanzania) who have no negative test result will be required to take a PCR test at the approximate cost of $100.00 USD. Children under the age of 12 years may be exempt from these requirements.
