Visa Policy for tourists refers to those measures or travel documentation that needs to be fulfilled by foreign nationals before arriving in Tanzania.

There are 69 countries whose nationals don’t require a visa to enter Tanzania. The list of countries that are exempted is here.

All other foreigners must apply for a valid visa online due to the country’s visa policy for tourism.

Few things to Consider here

Travelers must ensure that their passports should have a validity of at least six months.

Tourists are advised to apply for an Ordinary Visa. However, there is an exception for travelers holding an American passport coming for holidays in Tanzania who should apply for a Multiple Entry Visa.

Visa on Arrival

It is recommended to obtain a single-entry-90-day tourist (multiple entry visa for American passport holders) visa upon arrival at a major point in the country.

Two major entry points are Dar es Salaam and Kilimanjaro International Airport. The payment for the visa is preferred in US dollars cash.

Travelers who want to avoid long queues at multiple entry points should apply for an e-Visa online beforehand.
